NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD

1. Application for a recommendation addressed to the following address;  

H.E The high commissioner

Rwanda High Commission

Kampala-Uganda

2. Application for the Rwanda national I.D addresses to;

Coordinator Rwanda National I.D

Kigali Rwanda

2. Two passport photos (Colored with a WHITE background)

3. Filled application form (Issued at the High Commissions Front Desk)

4. Recommendation letters from at-least two relatives in Rwanda certifying that you are a Rwandan. These referees should attach a copy of their National ID's or Passport.

4. A copy of LC1 Letter confirming your residence.

PASSPORT

1.Fill in the passport application form (http://www.migration.gov.rw/index.php?id=207forms )

2. Provide three passport photos (Colored with a WHITE background)

3. A Formal application Letter for a passport addressed to:

                              The Director General,

                                Immigration and Emigration Department,

                                Kigali - Rwanda

4. Write to the High Commission of Rwanda requesting for a recommendation. Addressed it to;  

           The High Commissioner 

                                    Rwanda High Commission

                                    Kampala-Uganda

5. Provide a letter from the LC 1 Confirming that you are a residence of his area

6. Provide a copy of your National I.D

7. Cost of obtaining a passport is 50.000 Rwandan Francs or the equivalent in US Dollars
    It takes 2 months to get a passport.

Note: We normally advise that after obtaining the High Commission recommendation, the applicants may travel to Kigali and deposit the application him/herself. This takes less time that applying to the High Commission.

OTHER CONSULAR SERVICES
1) Certification of documents. This takes Maximum of 3 days and the cost USD 25 per document.    

2) Certification of School certificates is free

2) Emergency Travel documents for Rwandans who have lost their passports or laissez passer.
